Common App Development Questions
What kind of apps do you create?
We focus on two kinds of apps. We create mobile apps that run on devices like iPhones and iPads, and we create web apps that users interact with using a normal web browser. Sometimes a web app is a complex interactive website like Facebook.
If I need a mobile app, do I need the app store?
Nope. Many small businesses offer great experiences using “mobile web” technologies. Which refers to making a web application that behaves just like an app you would download from an app store.
Using this route, you can target all of the major device brands like Apple and Android with one thing.
This doesn’t always work though. If your app needs to use a feature of the phone or tablet, like the camera, you need what is referred to as a “native” app. We do those too.
How much will this cost me?
We don’t charge based on how complicated an app is. Rather we charge for how long we are working on it. So to minimize initial costs we offer a free planning session where we prioritize what the app needs to do.
How long will it take?
Typically an app will require 3 months to complete. That’s not always accurate though since sometimes all that is needed is a web interface that does something specific. For example, if you look at the Lawton Printers case study for Scratch-o-Matic that took us 2 weeks.
I already have an app, can you help me with it?
Sure! The team has a lot of experience with different technologies. If we don’t have the skills necessary, we’ll let you know of someone we think can help you.
